new here I drink too much, maybe 3/4 bottle of whisky each night. Start at 5pm ish and continue till I fall asleep. Don`t drink during the day or morning. Maybe feel too bad to even contemplate a drink.... Stayed sober for 5 years but since my wife died 3 years ago have hit it again. Recently got re-married and don`t want to spoil my new life. Going to empty the drinks cabinet and try to start a new life. ![]()

I did respond to your thread in Newcomers but I wanted to say you are welcome to use more than one Forum. As this is our 12 Step Alcoholism Forum are you planning to use AA? Did you use it before for sobriety? It's always good to see a new member... ![]() Congratulations on your marriage and for seeking recovery!

Hi Creative, Welcome to our little corner of the internet. I'm glad you found us. Folks around here are pretty cool and many of us have been through a great deal of pain. As Carol asked, I too am curious how you stayed sober for five years. I got sober in AA in 1989 and I was sober for a little over 5 years and then started drinking again. It has taken me some 15 years to finally actually, really, wholeheartedly, get back to basics and today I have hope. You can put the 'plug in the jug' and you will find wonderful support here. Again welcome, JOM

welcome to SR Creative! I like to think it is the higher power at work in our lives whenever we get the inspiration to empty the drinks, to stop, and to treasure the gifts we've been given. Your decision is a brilliant one. Do you have a plan to stay stopped?
