| I did my 2nd step five on friday
I did my 2nd step 5 on friday, ~2 years after my first. Amazing. My first one I was sober for <6 months, and while I did the best I could at the time, it was definitely not searching and fearless like the one I just did. It has taken me 2.5 years to really come to understand myself, and what my fears, resentments, sex problems were. By the time I did this 2nd step five, most of my friends knew everything on it because I really don't keep secrets anymore. I don't have to, I really don't do much that causes me shame at this point in my sobriety. I am not the same guy I was on thursday... I am much better. The first time I had the glow all day... this time I am still feeling great 2 days later. I honestly feel I do not have to go back to my old resentments, fears, or problems if I don't want to now.

It is amazing with each successive 5th! I too did the best that I could with my first one, and I wasn't even 30 days sober yet, but we were to complete the first 5 steps before leaving rehab.

Bob that is awesome, I may actually switch sponsors in another year or 2 just to go back through the steps in their entirety. My present sponsor is not against those that repeat the steps in thier entirety, but he is not one to do it. He will have 20 years this November and is of the school that steps 10-12 are the maintenance steps and are all that is needed. I agree to a degree, but if one feels a need to do the steps again I see nothing wrong with that.

Good for you Bob, the freedom that comes with a 5th step is a good deal, I write a lot of inventory and share it with several different people, this keeps stuff from festering around until I formally go through the book and the directions which I do at least once a year. Stay on the spiritual path and you'll notice your inventories and resentments diminish in size.
