In AAs early years, before the 12 traditions were developed, one AA group tried to be all things to all people - AA group, medical help, social club, employment agency, bank, etc - the list went on and on. They had to develop 61 rules to make everything "work". When it ceased to work, they went back to being a regular AA group and developed rule 62 - Don't take yourself too seriously. If you are in AA you should read about it yourself in the 12x12.
