As long as the Troll has the capacity to be honest, they too can recover. They are not at fault, they seem to have been born that way with grave emotional and mental disorders. I am often grateful for Trolls; they remind me of what I used to be like and my gratitude grows when I remember what happened and what I am like now.

Maybe there should be a category set aside for Trolls where their posts can be moved to rather than deleted. They can post amongst themselves and anyone can, if they so choose join in the "conversation." Deleting them feeds into their argument that they are being censored. Acceptance, love and tolerance can mean that even though most folks don't care for what they say, they have the right to say it. In a different category, they can bash away at their heart's content without censorship as we show them love by either participating or not in their attempts at venting or reminding each person in recovery quite often of what each of us used to be like in many ways. As someone used to say on page 449 - Aceptance is the key. I may not like what anyone has to say but I have to accept their right to say it.

Nice thought Yogurt. However, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who's like to be the Moderator on that particular thread!

We need to keep in mind that when you have public forums such as these, society still has some rules that must be followed for public viewing safety. People like the one described here do require love and tolerance, however society also dictates that we must follow the rules. If we are to become productive and responsible members of society, we have to follow those rules to the best of our ability and become good examples for others to learn from.

Let's not confuse our SR Policy Rules & Regs
with AA's Policy Rules and Regs.

SR is on line by the generosity of our owners.
We are their guest.
Therefore...
each member is expected to follow SR Policy.

That means our site is moderated
and we will make certain Policy is followed.

The Troll in this instance has now used 12 or so persona.
He has consistantly disrupted our Forums
and barraged other members with vulgar PM's.

There will be no special forum for Trolls.
Nor will they be welcomed at SR.

Just want to say how much I admire and appreciate the efforts of the administrators and moderators at SR to keep a principled site. I'm impressed with the love and tolerance demonstrated by the many members with very little controversy ... Thanks!! You should be proud ... I know how difficult it can be ... since I'm registered in several other groups, have moderated in some of them and have been a global moderator at another group for several years ...

I for one have been at an unmoderated site where trolls ran rampant. I am grateful for SR having the forsight to have the rules it has as well as moderators. It helps to maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere here rather than a negative disparging, discouraging, atmosphere I experienced at the other site.

Trolls do not help the new comer, nor are they conducing to good discussion and open communication. They light fires under people and stir the pot for the sake of stirring the pot. Not because they care about the topic but because they find they can control peoples reactions to it.

If and when they truly want help they are more than welcome to come here and find it without trolling. In the meantime they will just have to stick to the unmoderated boards.

JMHO

Thank you Moderators for all you do, I for one truly appreciate and recognize the hard work you put in here.

What about someone who is causing a stink but isn't trying to - I mean if someone is being contrary just because thats the way they are or where they're at right now?

From my feeble understanding the guidelines, SR policy would be applied according to the nature of the incident. I would think it extremely hard to gauge "intent" on the internet and especially with the subject matter here.

there is a difference between trolling and being or acting like a troll. I believe the term you are looking for is "phishing."

I think it is something like spam and spamming. One is a luncheon meat and the other is usually undisclosed recipient e-mail off of some sort of e-mail database or, in the matter of forums such as this, unsolicited advertising for goods and/or services posted in the guise of information.

Well said, and I agree. In every society there are rules, guidelines and behavioral conduct policies. SR should be no exception.

a troll
i've been on threads where some have been labeled that
like, what do these people do with their day
a beautiful day in new york
and
i stay off their sites
but
for sure, wasting the day posting senseless anwers

inadvertently, is this not becoming a "gossip tree" about a troll?
SRC has a moderator
he / she makes a decision to delete
end of story

where i prayed for my mom

Ok people!!!

I guess I have to be the realistic one on this site. Trolls are made up little woodland creatures created in fictional stories.

Geez, I thought this was a recovery site, not a Lord of the Rings fan club.

"............I guess I have to be the realistic one on this site. Trolls are made up little woodland creatures created in fictional stories..............."

for real
a site that implores recovery
a program of rigorous honesty
not to mention open-mindedness and willingness

and we a labeling, judging, condemmning
(deleting) someone a troll
a living, breathing child of God
without walking in his shoes
instead of humbly trying to undestand, instead of being understood
NO?
a mythical character

are we not trolls ourselves?

I'm sorry but I don't agree. This is solely my opinion on the subject and you have the right to disagree with me, but I do not feel bad about deleting a posting from anyone who chooses to deliver a diatribe of malice and hate. Maybe there is a place online for that type of conduct, but it is not here. We must have a place where people feel safe to post their thoughts and feelings. To have someone come along and take advantage of another's vulnerabilities (and send them obscene PM's) or threaten their peace of mind should never be mistaken as anyone else’s privilege. That is not a right. (I was taught that my rights end where your nose begins...) That is abuse pure and simple and should not be tolerated by anybody anywhere.

I want to thank the Moderators for doing a thankless and often maligned job. Their diligence helps to keep each of us safe.

Like I said before, this is just my opinion…
