| big book step study
there are several threads here that remind me of a meeting I visit with sometimes. The threads on closed/open meetings and drug talk in meetings.. the meeting I mentioned is an 1 1/2 hour AA big book step study about 50 miles from my home. The first time I went, folks introduced themselves about half way thru the meeting. There was alcoholics, addicts, over eaters, alanons, and a lady who was very skinny and she identified herself as a food addict..(didn`t look like what I had stero typed as a food addict) The meeting turned out to the the most focused, powerfull, enthusiatic meeting I have ever attended. It was a open meeting by the way. When the meeting started,pre-selected parts of the bigbook was read. Then a 20 minute speaker..then they went around and shared their experience with the preselected part of the big book readings. No food a alogs, drunk a logs, drug a logs, just plain and pure solution. No talking about the past, just on the steps as they are outlined in the Big Book.awesome meeting and a great example of the Power of the real,un watered down, pure solution... bigbookstepstudy.org try one if you can

| Alcoholics Anonymous has brought me into a new way of life. It has gotten me interested and involved in so many other things one of which is other people. It sounds like a really great meeting and well worth the trip. I liked the idea of the introductions being done half way through, that’s different. Thank you for posting this!!! |

My core meeting now is known around here as a "Chapter 2" meeting (there is a solution). We welcome all addicts and alanons. During the meeting the chair reads from the big book and comments. Anyone else is free to comment at any time. The meetings are focused, clear, somewhat intense, and the underlying theme is always the solution. Because we welcome all, we are in conflict with AA central service, and they will not list our meeting. I also attend AA meetings, but as I said this is my core meeting. I have never before met so many who have really found a solution through the steps and by entering into a relationship with their higher power. These people give away what they have found freely and have given me true hope. In early AA, the steps and program were for "...anyone or everyone interested in a spiritual way of life." (pg.160) I thank God I have found people with a solution. JOM |
