After a few 24 hours, I can easily take for granted how hard it was coming into AA. We had a woman coming into her first AA meeting tonight with tears in her eyes. The chairman asked the ladies at the meeting to tell her what brought them to the tables. One by one, I heard of women losing their families. For a woman, I can't imagine what it's like to lose custody of their kids. I went for almost 5 years without seeing mine. Maybe, it was divine intervention from God that allowed my kids back into my life. One thing for certain, alcohol and drugs usually destroys a person long before it kills them. I knew one thing coming into my first meeting, everyone around the tables was laughing and I was fighting back tears. I really needed to have a reminder of why, I stayed around the tables all these years.
