The need to be right for me comes from a place of desperation deep within. I too, want to be right and happy; happy because I was again right! I want that affirmation, I want that recognition, I want that acclaim; rather my inflated ego desires to be feed.

Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation-some fact of my life-unacceptable to me, and I find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake. Until I could accept my alcoholism, I could not stay sober; unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes. Rufus not that anyone seems to care for anything I have to say which is hurtful to me in itself but to get past this I did want to say in light of yesterdays Malay your post was perfectly apropos. Thank-you, well done….. |

live and let live does not apply to every area of my life today, nor does it apply to every area of anyones life...unless they want to be like the rock in the driveway...learning excally what it is and when it applies is wise...

If a man knows his own self, he knows other beings and God. What is my ego? Ponder deeply, and you will know that there is no such thing as ‘I’. As you peel off the skin of an onion, you find it consists only of skin; you cannot find any kernel in it. So too on analysing the ego, you will find that there is no real entity that you can call ‘I’. Such an analysis of the ego convinces one that the ultimate substance is God alone. When egotism drops away, Divinity manifests Itself. | |

T2F "Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. for with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye." Matthew 7:1-5 |

| Did this thread get high jacked or what?
Can we get back to the OP's thread topic? It really is a good one. But it seems the theme has changed into live and tell others how to live. Experience, strength, and hope is what sharing in AA is about. That gets a message across better than beating someone over the head with the book, or holy book wars will ever get. I have become rather disappointed the past few days at how many posts have been ruined because people have to throw their egos around. Can we just take a break from the bickering? Maybe remembering the kindergarten rule "If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all," might be worth remembering here. Here is the OP. Quote:
