Why Only An Hour?

Or are meeting times up to the individual groups too? I've only been to two meetings but it seemed to me there wasn't enough time, I would have liked them to last longer.

The meetings around Seattle are mostly 1 1/2 hours. That seems to be the right amount of time, IMO.

LOL

I remember thinking this at one point, too ... then I watched as more and more alcoholics got the 'figits' as the hour progressed. We've gone over if the sharing warranted, but an hour is about all I'm good for too.

It COULD have something to do with that whole mysterious 'moderation' concept.

Moderation ?

*checks dictionary*

Nope, not in there. Thought so.

We have a 1.5 hour 12 X 12. Talk about overkill ! We finally took a group conscious though and voted in a break.

All of my meetings are 1.5 hrs, with a break.

My home group does an hour...mostly..
(no breaks cause we still smoke!)

The Newcomers usually runs overtime.
The Joe & Charlie tape meeting is 1+15

Our candlelight meetings are open ended.
As are group conscious.

It is up to each group to decide.
We just mix it up!!...

I found an hour and half one with a break in the middle tonight - it was great, much more relaxed, I really enjoyed it :0)

keep it simple
open the meeting
qualification
secretary' break
sharing
or 3 speaker meeting

year's ago,
a politician gave a speech
afterward's one of the moderators said it was way too long
as people tune out after 15 minutes
so i always figured,
even in conversation,
keep to the topic, etc
of course, i wanted 2 hour meetings when i first came around
but
then there is the "anyone need to share" sometines last sharing
and
then
"if you need to share, see me after the meeting"
or, of course
call your sponsor
or another meeting, etc

it's probably got a lot to do with the location
rarely would a group have access for more than 2, 3 hours
as sometimes the space is closed but keeps a employee on site to lock up
and, of course, pays him

whatever, 72 years
an hour works

best

I found my way to a few different meetings this last week, and got value from them all but my favourite was the hour and half with a break and then an after meeting meeting as well.:0)
