| On Holidays, always remember...
On holidays always remember that even though most stores are closed, AA meetings are usually not. If your at a Independence Day celebration and the cravings hit, go to a meeting!!! Most meetings go on as planned, even clubhouses have alc-a-thons that go on all day and late into the night. Oh and.....HAPPY 4th!!! Tom |

Thanks Tom....I went to my club house meeting at noon today...not because i had a craving but because i wanted to go....Besides i had not been to an AA function like a bbq since i got sober 16 yrs ago.... The room was filled for the meeting while there was volleyball and bbq going on outside... I always get something out of the meetings i go to...like listening to speakers who sound so elequant and profound....they sure do know how to talk the talk of recovery... After the meeting as i was walking around outside and visiting others....i let my buddy do all the talking whom lots of people know her....she has 20 something yrs sobriety....anyway...we stopped and talk to a lady sitting on a bench and i told her i enjoyed what she shared...as i listened to the lady...she talked about when she came into AA baclk in 70 something and now only has 8 mos....i think....i was stunned to hear that....my goodness... and even tho this lady is older than I she had been in AA for awhile now and is no stranger to recovery....then she let it go....she also talked about how hard it was getting back into the program...but she made it back....WHEW.... See ...when i hear people talk like that who had long term sobriety go back out....scares me to death,,,, Why i ask....yet i do know why....but why....we know what to do and yet boom it happens.... Sooooo CUNNING BAFFLING AND POWERFUL is our disease. So when i say i have 16 yrs sober...its not by sitting on my tush for that long....im like everyone else in these rooms...im not all that special or cured ..just one drink away from a drunk if i ever stop working my program..... So ...ive learned and accepted who and what I am and i know what it is that i need to do on a daily bases to stay sober one day at a time.... For one hour of the day make a meeting cause I want to go and share my ESH with others....do service work ...hey im happier today than any day i was drinking.... Glad to be here and thanks for letting me share. Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the grace of my HP and people like you here in SR i havent had a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For that and you I am truely grateful.
