I was asked to chair my homegroup tonight. Couple minutes after I started the meeting four people came in, one of them a newcomer, another his wife. The other two had brought them along. We quickly changed it to an open meeting. It was good. As I shared, then as I "managed" (you know what I mean, I can't think of the right word) the meeting and just kept the newcomer focussed on "listen, identify, don't compare, don't interrupt", I thought a lot about you people here. You know, I have learned an awful lot since coming to SR. I've learned so much about how AA works around the world. I've learned a whole lot about alcoholism as a condition, and how it affects us and those around us. I've learned a lot about how my mind works, and I've been able to practice and rehearse a lot of emotions on these boards which has helped me to respond more appropriately when I've had those emotions and encountered those situations in the 3d world. But it's not simply about what I've learned. You people have helped me. When I learn something, I change me. When I'm helped, you change me. More and more these days I seem to be helped. Sober Recovery really is a big part of my recovery. Thanks everyone. I'm glad we're in this together.

Great share! I love new comers even though I still think of myself as one. I was reminded last night of just how really new I am when I attended a meeting where my favorite lady in AA picked up her 31 year chip!!! AA & SR help me stay sober.
