Oh I struggle with this. I have to pray about it alot. Yesterday a very good online friend of mine jumped to a conclusion about me based on something I told her, and it appears she has cut me off. It's hurtful. I realized that I have a tendency to draw people in and idolize them and not let them have flaws. That is not a kindly or tolerant view either. I have to accept her humanity, and let the friendship go. I can't control her reaction, and getting mad at her about it won't make me feel any better. She is most probably an active addict, yet another one I have drawn into my life, and expecting an active addict to behaver rationally is not realistic, although she is rational a good bit of the time. I have been through so much in the last few months with friends that I am getting really, really good at detaching, not trying to hang onto these relationships that have run their course. My sharings lately on these meditations and passages are very personal and specific, just because I have been through some turmoil of late. I need to be tolerant of my friend and her limitations. As painful as it was to have that friendship end so abruptly, getting angry about it isn't going to serve me well.
