Between my experience last night and completing my 4th & 5th step today with my sponsor I am absolutely elated, a pink cloud does not even begin to describe what I fee right now!

That's awesome Taz. I'm a little ahead of you step wise, byt pretty much in the same place. Serenity ROCKS ! I'm also finding life a lot easier. I don't know why I thought I had to struggle and fight so much. I'm sober, my belley's full, my bed is warm, my kids love me. What else does one need ?

GP the one thing that stands out to me more then any thing when people share thier gratitude is I have never heard any one say they are grateful for thier new SUV or sports car, it is always about non-material things or simply a bed to sleep in. Kind of reminds one of what is truly important in life.

I believe that as we work a program of recovery, others like me are just grateful to be alive and have a roof over their head, hot and cold running water, food in the frig and a bed to sleep in. I believe it's because our priorities change. Taz I am so glad you have found that "freedom from self". Now not to burst your bubble, but............................................the re is still more work to be done, rofl, so.......................keep on trudgin. Love and hugs,

Thanks Laurie, my sponsor and I will be doing steps 6 & 7 Monday night, I dropped my original sponsor because I felt like I was spinning my wheels, I must have read the Doctors opinion thru page 164 3-4 times and the 12 & 12 that many times as well in my first 3 months in AA, and topped that all off with reading "Under the Influence" for good measure and had still not completed step one with my sponsor! I did some talking around and found out that this one guy who is now my sponsor walked the walk and talked the talk, and as crazy and some folks may think when I was told he was a BB Natzi I knew he was the man for me if he would have me! Lucky for me he took me on. In just over 6 months we/I have done steps 1-5 and in less then a week I will have 6 & 7 under my belt. He is great, he makes sure that I understand each step before we move on, he told me he would work them quicker with me if I wanted but I told him the pace was good because I wanted to drink it in myself. Well now I have my fire lit to make sure I do not delay any on working the steps, Wednesday night I got my first sponsee who seems to want what I have! Man must be crazy, but that is okay! LOL He spoke to my sponsor about helping him find a sponsor and my sponsor told him (Truthfully) that he was experiencing some health problems and may not be able to take on another sponsee but that he had a guy who he might like as a sponsor. When my sponsor told him who he had in mind he didn't run or laugh, he said cool! I really like the guy, I greeted him the first meeting he came to after he got out of detox, he has some of the same problems I have, like taking something simple and trying to make it complex! With me I tried to make the BB and the steps way more complex then what they really are, I was putting complexity into simplicity!!! Any how we are not buddy buddy, but we get along well and have some things in common. I gave him a few things to do and so far he has called me at 6:15am every morning when he is on his way to work to talk. That and he understands why calling folks is really crucial to staying sober. When I asked him why he wanted a sponsor he told me guidance and accountabilty!! The man is sharp considering he has only been sober for 1 1/2 months. I let him know that being his sponsor was helping me stay sober as well and I let him know I appreciated it because now I have some accountablity to some one other then myself.
