| Writing things on paper
I need advice- I am on my fourth step and I am having a hard time with writing things down on paper. Does anyone have suggestion on how to do this? I would ruin my family if the things I have done in the past get out.

Welcome to SR! Yes it is difficult quietly sit down and write! Have you considered using Word and print it from there? Then you give it to your sponsor. You do have a sponsor to help you I hope. Of course privacy might be an issue for you. I live alone so it is not for me but you might have others sharing your PC. Glad you are here...Congratulations on your sober time!

Well, another idea is to spend a day with your sponsor and get it all over with at once. At the end, you can burn what you wrote. Or, perhaps going to a park and writing, then visiting a nearby priest. They, I've heard, are no strangers to hearing 5th steps (a friend of mine did this for, as he phrased it, "anything for which the statute of limitations had not yet expired"). While it's ultimately better to have things out in the open with your family, we can't tell them hurtful things that serve no other purpose than to clear our consciences. It's a good motivator to keep walking in the sunlight of the spirit where nothing has to be hidden away. Peace & Love, Sugah

Just to add to CarolD's suggestion ... if privacy is an issue for you and you do put it in Word, you might save it with a password that only you know. OR save it only on a CD or diskette ... and keep them in a safe place !
