| My Fellow A.A. members, a question...
Last month I was on vacation, visiting my parents in Marco Island Florida. The meetings I went to down there had these black resentment coins. If anyone here goes to meetings that have these black resentment coins, would you be able to give me any info on how I would be able to obtain any? A company that makes them, phone mumber, etc... I have been unable to find a company online that makes or distrubutes these coins/medallions. Thanks!!! Tom Last edited by Signal30; 01-14-2007 at 06:21 PM. Reason: Grammer |

Never heard of them. I do know regular coins and literature can be bought at your local district office. Also, there's "AA" stores, even though I've never been to one. At those you can by the neat book covers, etc. Maybe they have them ? I'll ask my sponsor at tonights meeting.

Never heard of those. I know someone who had little cards printed up that said "it's not them". Whenever someone would whine in the meeting about how they were getting the wrong end of the stick, after the meeting that person would be given one of these cards.

Here's what I was told about these resentment coins. When going to these meetings in Florida, (I live in Ohio), during the part of the meeting when coins are given for anniversies the person giving out the coins would ask if anyone had resentments. The people who wanted these black resentment coins would receive the coin and when they left would take care of the resentment they had. When they resolved the resentment, they would return to the meeting, give the black coin back to either the chairperson or the coin giver, and tell the people in the meeting how they resolved the resentment. This was the first time I ever heard of this, or seen these coins. I asked one of the locals that lived down there about these coins, and he told me these black resentment coins originated from A.A. meetings in the Florida Keys. Slowly these coins started showing up further and further north, and meetings started using these coins. I've talked to some fellow members where I live and they have heard of these coins also. I like the idea of the resentment coin, my sponsor, and others are interested about how you can get these coins. The guy I talked to down there said there was a company in Naples Florida that either made or distributed these coins, but I wasn’t able to get an address or phone number. Sorry about the long winded post...lol. |

Welcome to this forum, Signal. Thanks for sharing about the black resentment coins. They sound like a good idea. I wish we had them up north where I am. I'm sure I'd pick some up at some of my meetings... It's important to deal with resentments. I'm the kind of person who could benifit from some sort of symbol (ie black coin). Thanks for sharing, chip

Yeah, I've seen it done at the majority of AA groups down south. They didn't have a factory made chip (or at least not any of the groups in TN I attended), they just spray-painted poker chips yellow. The process of getting and returning the chip is how Signal30 explained it. I have also seen resentment marbles given out in NA using the same process. Usually a black marble. But I've only seen this done at a couple of groups in TN where I lived. I dont' live in TN anymore, so I dunno if either AA or NA continues to use resentment chips/marbles there anymore.

We have a really good method for facing and being of resentment. It is called the4th Step, followed by steps, 5,6,7,8, & 9. You'll find it in a book called Alcoholics Anonymous.

| Do you want chips with that ?
We should be open minded about how different AA meetings are run. As long as they confirm to the 12 steps and traditions. Quote:
