Online Step Study?

Hello Friends.

In my area, because of my hours of work, I've missed out on step studies.

Is there any interest in having an online step study as a part of this forum? I would find this very helpful. Is there anybody who would like to help me study the steps of this program????
thanks,
chip

Chip, that sounds really cool, but........

Study is usually done taking turns reading aloud. Pausing here and there to share thoughts/comments. Face to face is best, but I can understand your dilemma.

I don't know how this could be done online. Maybe Microsoft meeting or some other program that uses a microphone ?

Another recovery site has a "step study" where the members simply post their thoughts about the step. I don't think that reading aloud is the key to the discussion. I'm not sure if you can post the whole step or if you have to assume that each poster has read it on their own time. Perhaps you can urge folks to type out the paragraph they are referencing for ease of discussion.

I am doing a step study at my home group (second time around). We usually cover a couple of pages per meeting sometimes more depending on the step and number of participants.

If someone wants to head this up I would say perhaps posting a few paragraphs from the 12 x 12 starting at Step 1 and inviting comments and dialogue and then pick up where you left off and post the next part and so on. Is there an online version of the 12 x 12 anywhere? I was thinking it would be easier to cut and paste it rather than someone having to type it in.

I think it would be a great thing to do and I would love to participate.

Hugs to all,
Kellye

Wink Step-Study?

For me, the best step studies I've been to are those where the step is read from pgs 59/60 of the BB, and then the folks in the group give their understandings, opinions, and ESH on that particular step.

If I want the founders understandings, opinions, and/or ESH on the step, I can read the rest of the first 164 pgs of thre BB and the 12x12. After all, that's really all those pages are.....their opinions and understandings of the steps and how they worked them, and how they worked for them..... (o:

What was done on another site ..about dot com

12 separate threads were started at once.
The header noted the Step
the first post was typed in the step

Then members shared as they proceeded.

It was kept simple that way...

I think that would be the way to begin here
but it's just my opinion.

I'd try it. I like Carol's idea about 12 different threads, because I am still really new at this and only know a little bit about the first couple of steps.

I'm in too.

Maybe we start 12 threads and place them in the "sticky" section, or create a whole new section. Members could then just pick whatever step(s) that they had in mind to study that day, or related to them that day.

Yes, Carol, that's pretty much what I saw. I think they staggered the start of each thread though to give some focus on each one for a couple weeks. Eventually there will be 12 separate threads kept as stickys so that members can post as thoughts occur to them.

It works great for newcomers to be able to look at the threads when they come in. They are welcome to read, then post their thoughts and it will draw even more commentary.

Kellye, I have a 12x12 online but I have to make sure it's one that can be posted here before I do that. We should also get a consensus as to what's going to be posted in the first post - just the step or the whole 12x12 version.

I put a step study forum on the top of this forum. I put 12 child forums in that forum.

See if that will work.
