| Robin Williams
There's a story about Robin Williams going to treatment for alcoholism after 20 years of sobriety. I hope he does well. I don't know if he was going to AA but this was a good lesson for me. No matter how long you have been sober, picking up a drink can take you right back to where you were before you quit.

I love his work. Aside from him being famous and me being a nobody - we have a lot in common (including me coming up on my 20th). I didn't know that he relapsed. Whatever the reason, I admire his determination to get back up again. |

This serves to show me, one more time, that alcoholism doesn't care who the person is, what sex, what color, what religion, what socio-economic background, what talent... alcoholism takes all and anyone. yikes.

13NCREW: Good luck on that 20th! For a variety of reasons, I had a hard time (lots of anxiety/depression) around my 20th. I think I let the amount of time get to me. Now I am glad to be past that and back in today...

| There is no decision regarding the disease of alcoholism. Quote:

So basic and true. Anyone ever look down at a half finished drink and say "how the heck did that get there"? I decided to take every drink I had. I never "slipped", I changed my mind.

I agree jd...This thread and the one about the other "famous" person in the news recently have really bothered me.... I think all this talk by people supposedly with good recovery is nothing but gossip.. Gossip is very dangerous..Last time I posted this - I heard all kinds of justifications and rationalizations as to why pepole were gossiping. This is meant to be an anonymous recovery program and we can not break anothers annoymity..They may - But that is their decision - It does not give US license to break another's anonymity - even if they have chosen to... I have the right to break mine - but that doesn't give YOU the right to. There is no positive reason to do so...Only Gossip
