| 12 & 12
I'm trying to not give up on AA before the miracle happens (I heard that here-thank you) and I'm working on the first few steps. I already wrote a dozen pages of "my story" several months ago when I started drying out but then decided maybe I was just in a funk and could shake out of it and quit my effort. Now I'm starting to look at individual incidents and seeing the insanity more clearly. My sponsor suggested that I make a skeleton story time line so that I can more easily see the progression and list only specific incidents that highlight the alcohol related insanity for that period rather than pages of emotional and nondrinking background. It's proved to be a scary and very insightful exercise. She also asked me to read the pages in the Big Book and the 12 x 12 for Steps 1,2,&3. I was wondering if the text can be found online or is it just too much to have on a website. I have the BB but not the 12x12. Any input would be great. |

Most AA groups also sell copies of the 12 & 12 at a minimal cost - just in case you wanted to have a hard copy... I refer to mine every so often and its very handy. I admire your willingness to follow suggestions and do the work. I can say, with complete confidence, that your work will pay off in ways you cannot even imagine! Please keep us posted - it is so good for me to hear about someone's journey in recovery and it helps me to look at my own program to see where I need to make some changes! Leslie

Here's why the 12 x 12 is not on line...... Finding the 12x12 Online. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: Why is it that I can find the Big Book to download online but not 12 Steps and 12 Traditions (the 12x12)? Answer: Unlike the Big Book (in The United States), A.A. World Service in NY (AAWS), still claims ownership of the 12x12. This copyright by AAWS prevents any reproduction of the 12x12, even if it is given away for free. Anyone that reproduces the book in print or online could be sued by AAWS so it is rare that it will be found online. AAWS provides a Windows-compatible word searchable and hperlinked version of the 12x12 on 3.5" diskette for $5.75 - order Item M-67 by calling (212) 870-3312. G.S.O also provides the hardcover edition for $6.40 (B-2), a pocket-size "gift edition" for $6.25 (B-4), the large-print edition for $6.75 (B-14), the softcover edition for $6.00 (B-15) a softcover pocket edition for $4.50 (B-17), a 5-cassette audiotape version for $18.00 (MB-2), a Braille edition for $5.60 (M-35), and a 5-volume 1/2" video in American Sign Language for $35.00 (VS-3). Prices current as of April, 2006. Many meetings carry the 12 x 12, or it can be ordered from several different sites on line. I too am glad to see you making progress!!!!!! Love and ((((O(to all))))),

Thank you all for your comments. I think I might start a thread of my steps if that doesn't sound too corny or overwhelming for me. Maybe just a nutshell version so I have something I can look back on easily to see progress. Last edited by CarolD; 08-08-2006 at 05:58 PM. |
