Missing my Dad
Hi,
I am new to this site and I really don't know what made me come here tonight. My dad died seven years ago and it feels like it was yesterday. He was an alcoholic for 30 years. He drank every night vodka straight. He was a closet drinker and you never knew when he drank. He would only appear drunk after a couple of hours. He was not abusive or destructive either. He was very loving and affectionate to his family. I can recall only a few times I was embarassed but my brothers could probably tell a different story. I miss him so much. My mom has been going to Al Anon way before he died. And she insist that her four children go. My oldest brother is the only one who is an alcoholic.
My dad died because of his drinking. He stopped drinking for a full year before he was diagnosed with scrosis of the liver. He was put on a list to receive a liver. He received his new liver. But because of how long he was a drinker, the rest of his organs started to shut down. He came out of his surgery in a coma and 6 weeks later we pulled the plug.
I am looking for a meeting in Atlanta. Any suggestions?
