My Responsibility

I have been doing some travelling across the east coast and have attended several different meetings on my way. As a responsible member of AA I have concerns regarding the "watering down of AA" I am not hearing the message from the podium or in discussions meetings, AA is a 12 step program, if I am not working the steps and trying to help another alcoholic why am I here? I do not have the right to talk about whatever issue I am currently dealing with at a meeting, we all have issues, what is my primary purpose? Alcoholism is a spiritual malady as well as a physical addiction, wreaking havoc and crushing lives long before it inevitably kills if left untreated. For a real alcoholic the only answer is a spiritual remedy attained through working the 12 steps with a sponsor. I can not "fix" anything, however, I can follow tradition, make sure my sponsee's know what AA is and isn't, attend my home group business meetings, and make sure that the newcomer hears a message of hope.
