Be sure that you tell your dentist of your addiction--that is first and foremost. He/she can then advise you on the best form of pain relief that is non-narcotic.
Toradol is good, but need to be perscribed by your dentist. When I worked in a hospital many orthopedic doctors percribed it for patients with mild to moderate pain after bone surgery and it was very good in relieving the pain. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. For dental pain, you most likely will do well with OTC stuff like ibuprofen or Aleve. I had dental surgery 3 weeks after I got clean and I used Aleve and ice packs and had no problems at all.
