A business associate and I were traveling to a meeting
and met at the airport. We would always bring some cards
so in the lay over times we could play some games
of gin rummy. While sitting in the back to back chairs
at a airport and playing cards with our briefcases between
our chairs an elderly couple came and sat down on the
opposite side. Here is how their conversation went.

Him: This sure is a busy train station.
Her: Honey this is an airport, we're going to
fly down do visit the kids.

Him: Jumping up and feeling his pockets.....
OH my gosh I've lost the car and house keys.
Her: Honey you haven't driven in 10 years.
And I have the house keys in my purse.

My associate and I were trying to hold back
our smiles as it was becoming very apparent
that he was suffering from Alzheimer's.
As the jet approached the jet-way and parked
the old man got up from his chair and went
and stood by the window. Upon returning
there were tears welling up in his eyes....
Him: I thought that you loved me?
Her: I do, and I have for the last 51 years.
Him: Then why, are you going to make
me get on a plane with no propellers?

We could not help but smile a bit at this
and feeling a little embarrassed we told him that
we too were getting on the new plane
with different engines on it and we would all
make it to our destination together.
This calmed him, even though he did ask the
flight attendant if we too were really going
to stay on the plane. She made arrangements
for the people sitting in front of them to switch
with us. We had a great trip!! And so did they.
