Doesn't that completely negate the disease/genetic link theory? Doesn't that make it sound like a social disease? Hmmm..... maybe I'm overthinking but this sentence really sticks out to me.
I think it's shorthand more along the lines of, if a person continues to drink to the point of self-destruction, they will need enablers to maintain their habit. Or, that alcoholics pick people and playgrounds that tolerate their addiction.
