Why?
Fearful they are cowering in the dark.
He is home again, meanacing, orders he barks
Friendly to all, smiling softly, in everyone's face
Deeply Christian Man, what can be his sin?
Why is his family afraid of him?
Loud his footsteps echo through the house.
Terror shakes all from child to mouse
Breath of Alcohol, his voice full thunder
She doesn't dare to answer to swears he utters
Bellowing her name, where are you useless wench?
Unsteady he settles down on the Kitchen bench
She calms her children, tells them to hide
Knowing that there will be another awful fight
Slowly she picks up his slippers to her doom she goes
Kneeling before him to help him with his shoes
The first strike blinded as he kneed her nose
Trying to stop the tears, quickly to her feet she rose
Pain and tears blinding her, blood is flowing
Tired at the end of her strengh, but still she is bowing
He yells another curse for her to get the other shoe
Shaking she knows this will cause further woe
She watched him carefully as nervous she fumbles
A fist behind her ear made her struggle end in a stumble
He was punching and kicking now swearing to no end
The stench of Alcohol, one reason his mind was bend
Nowhere for her to go with her small children
I must be terrible she thought guild ridden
Finally darkness takes her into it `s folds
No pain, fear or more insults she has to behold
Tomorrow in the news another sad story will appear
How one family endured so much pain, tragic and fear.
Finding two small children asleep against Mom `s cold chest
Another abused Woman found peace only in eternal rest
Discovered are old scars, badly healed bones and fresh bruises
The judge did not allow these feeble and unjust excuses
No one forced him to Alcohol or his hand to do such abuse
Another Death and wrecked family because of Booze
