New to forum, slightly off topic question.

Hello, I had been drinking moderately (5/day) since about 1998. Then upped it to about 10-14 day by 2001. At which point I quit and sought professional help. I've been diagnosted with Major Depression and Social anxiety.

I also believe I abused alcohol to get to sleep (even though I was aware that it would cause a wake up 4 hours later). I've always had problems getting to sleep.

I am currently prescribed Ambien by my Phyciatrist. I have been taking 10 mg for about 20 months. I noticed a decline in it's "punch" after about 6 months.

The other day I was a bit congested and feeling kind of sick so I took 1oz of Nyquil and 10mg of Ambien. WOW! That really zonked me out good, and it seemed like I slept better than ever and awoke with good energy.

Normally getting out of bed for me is incredibly difficult, no energy, depressed.

Is this going to be a bad habit of getting into? Mixing Nyquil with Ambien?

On another note. I hadn't drank since May, 2003. But few months ago I binged a few times (10-12 in a few hours). Not sure why, I think it was because I was elated and just felt like topping it off.

Now for the scary part. Last night I had 10 drinks, then took 1oz of Nyquil and 10 mg of Ambien. The next day I felt a bit hungover, but the strangest thing happened that I've never experienced before. Double Vision. It was as if my eyes were stuck at an angle to look at something about 2 feet away. So If I looked at my hand it was fine, but objects further in the distance would be double. It went away about 3 hours after I got up, about 12 hours after finishing drinking and taking the Nyquil and Ambien. I've been drunker than drunk before and never experienced double vision.
