Effexor XR

I have been on Effexor XR (450mg per day - quite a high dose) for the past 8 years. I think the reason I stayed on it so long is that for me, it has the least side effects).
I've been on many different drugs and combinations of drugs).
I just want to warn you, to never just stop this drug on your own - you must if you go off it take about 3 months to gradually reduce, then stop the drug. It is VERY addicting - and I have found that even after a gradual reduction I experienced some horrible side effects from going off it. Loss of cognition, horrible "shocks" in my head. And while I was on Effexor - I found quite considerable short term memory loss.
It is a good drug - and these side effects might be because I was on such a high dose.
Good luck!
