yup,
exactly what cj and NA mommy said.
only sort of combined.... Every recovery speaker has 3 stories .. the one they planned on telling, the one they wish they had told, and the one God used then to tell
THis is what helped me get over my troubles with critiquing myself too much.
For a couple days before I speak and on my way to speak, my head is filled with all the wonderful stuff, I think is important, that helped me and that might help someone else.
Then I usually get to where I am speaking and get a little nervous and confused. Then I ask God to help me carry the message as best I can just for today, and let him decide who needs to hear what.
I just have to "suit up and show up" God helps me say what someone needs to hear.
Every one of us in recovery has the unique abilty to say or phrase something in a way that reaches someone who might not get "it" from someone else.
For me that's God's way of helping us all stay in the spirit of anonymity.
You'll do fine. Just be yourself, and be honest. The people who make the greatest impression on me speaking are the people who aren't trying to make a personal impression, but have that fire of gratitude for NA.
