Welcome to our recovery community. My primary addiction was booze, but I also got hooked on pills. I understand what you mean by taking sleeping pills during the day in order to escape - I did that too.
Coming here is a great first step - by admitting that you have a problem. And, you'll see that you aren't alone - far from it.
