| bipolar too
I have the same situation concerning my meds and drinking. Before I was diagnosed bipolar I quit drinking on my own for seven years - the alcohol gave me debilitating anxiety the following day. I jumped off the wagon a few years ago and I tried AA. It was ok but it wasn't really for me so this time I'm going it on my own. One huge reason you should stop drinking is that it affects your meds usefulness, also I've gotten some strange side effects after a night of hitting it hard. For example I'm on wellbutin too and in the morning I would get a palsy in my head. Scary enough for me to try quitting again. All my medication bottles say "do not drink alcohol while taking this medication" - good enough reason to quit.
