In terms of your employer and EAP, once you let them know you are an alcoholic, you are protected under the law from termination. You're truly sick right now, and the protection is valid. It's a valid reason to be out. Right now, the only explanation they have is that you're just a bad employee.
Use that gift to get help. From what you've posted, it would appear that your back IS against the wall, in every sense of the phrase.
