You bet. Its called meditation, affirmations, mantras etc. Is that what you mean?
These tools were very helpful for me to retrain my thinking. Even if i didn't believe or feel that what i was telling myself was true.....eventualy it reprogrammed my thinking and not only did i believe but i became what i was meditating on more or less lol.
I even recorded my own words on computer, mixed it with meditative music, and turned it low in my ipod and let it brainwash me to sleep

Because at the time i was tormented with negative thoughts with no hope filled with fear.
