I don't know why he would say it but he sounds like a sick puppy to me.
You asked for a parent's input so here goes....
My son made bad choices in women and I used to tell him "You can get all the women you want...if you set your standards low enough".
Set your standards higher, King, the field may be smaller but the choices are more likely to match your own values.
Just a mama's thought.
