Loneliness is a huge part of mental illness. I know that there are many instances when I have felt alone even within a relationship. I struggle with feeling alone even in a crowd of people.

I am thankful for SR and these boards as I can see that I am not alone in my struggles. It doesn't necessarily change how I feel but it is nice to know I am not alone.

Here are some of the things I do when I am feeling alone.
  • I focus on what I can change in me, even if it is one small thing that day
  • I read positive books, meditations, etc....
  • I call someone and talk to them.
  • I focus on myself not what others are doing
  • I read these boards
  • I write/journal
  • I can't think of anymore right now but I am sure there are many other things I do that help alleviate some of the loneliness.

Hang in there as you are not alone even though it feels like it.

Depression is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of being too strong for too long.
