blakeshape,
I understand your fear. I too live in a town where only three people can write Sub scripts and one of those doctor's programs if FULL! So, technically, there are only TWO... my PAST Sub doctor and my CURRENT Sub doctor. Obviously, my past doctor is past for a reason!
So... I have my current doctor who WILL discharge patients with a ONE-WEEK script for Suboxone if they relapse. I've heard other addicts (and doctors) insist that it's foolish to discharge an addict from therapy because they have acted as an addict. But, MANY doctors DO require patients to sign a contract that stipulates that abuse of the Suboxone or any other drug (I can be discharged for consuming alcohol), is cause for discharge. It is no idle threat with my doctor.
Although I encourage honesty with one's doctor, your idea to contact a back up doc in case you get kicked out of your current program is a prudent idea. We have a Sub patient on this forum whose doctor has abandoned his patients and from no fault of the addict, he is being put in the position of having to quit Sub c/t. As far as I'm concerned, my doctor's policy of giving someone a one-week script is no different from requiring them to quit c/t because finding another Suboxone doctor can be nearly impossible sometimes.
Therefore, I don't recommend acting hastily. Because I have never injected sub, I may not understand the effects. Doesn't the ceiling effect of bupe remain the same? Can't you just revert to sublingual adminstration of the drug and resume your Sub therapy? Many of us have abused our Sub in one form or another and then got back on board with therapy. Why the rush to get off Sub?

I take xanax but it makes me sleepy during the day.

Is your doctor aware that you're taking a benzo with Sub? Depending upon dose, this can be contraindicated.
