nearly six months in

I'm about 6 months into recovery and I have found suboxone to be a miracle. I became addicted to painkillers due to pain from a chronic degenerative disc disease. I live with pain on a daily basis, but the subs do as good a job with the pain issues as the oxys did. I haven't been high or drunk since I started treatment, and am currently working the AA program. When I went on the suboxone program, I felt like someone lifted the weight of the world off my shoulders. Prior to going on the program, I really did not thing I was going to be able to get off the drugs and alchohol rollercoaster. I didn't see any way out other than six feet down, and that looked pretty good sometimes.

I'm still living with pain, but I'm so hopeful in my recovery and my comittment to sobriety is stronger that it has ever been in my entire life. I know I must guard against relapse, just like every other addict/alchoholic, and going to my AA meetings help keep me focused. God bless everyone here who did not give up, and god bless everyone who did not give up on me.
