I thought of the Nugent song too when I saw the title of this thread.
To sit quietly when in doubt is not the usual alcoholic M.O. More like when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout, fix it, and figure it out.
To sit quietly when the mind is racing with those kind of thoughts is not easy. To not do anything when everything in screams "Do something!" is contrary to our nature.
I ask for the right thought or action, and as Tommy says, I move on with my day. The hardest part is to stay focused on what is right in front of me during the day. This is when watching, pausing, asking, and turning come into play.
