I actually used a friend from here at SR as my inspiration, and I know he wouldn't mind if I said who it was.

SpeedyJason came here to deal with his own addiction at the age of 17. While here, his father OD'd and died on heroin. His mom had left, with his little sister, Kirby, years before. When his dad died, Jason was suddenly reunited and moved to another state with his mom and Kirby. Things did NOT go well, "mom" is severely lacking in parental skills, to say the least, and Jason and Kirby are in foster care.

If Jay (Jason) can go through all of this, and stay clean, by God, I can not smoke a cigarette. Every time I thought about lighting one up, I just thought of him and Kirby, and that urge went away, so I told Jay that he and Kirby were to thank for my not smoking
