Its an interesting question about transcendence.
I also quit for a long time...7 years, actually. And my descent into smoking again was really gradual. You know...one here...one there...and, over a span of time, it just became a 'habit' again. I forgot how strong of a grip the cigs have on you and let my guard down.
Even in this quit, however, I've told myself that if I get to the age of 65 (in anohter 21 years) and I want to smoke, I will do it. Its silly, I know. Hopefully, I won't still want to smoke but thinking this way helps me get over the feeling of loss and deprivation I sometimes feel over quitting this horrible habit.
