When I returned to duel treatment a few years ago I was fortunate enough to find a non-profit organization that helped those with a mental illness. They offered a case worker to manage my care. That included the case worker being an advocate. The organization also provided housing and helped me get social services aid to pay for my rent (General Relief) and food (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
There may be some organization like the one I found close enough to be of service for your son.
