"It was for survival but it was a beginning. I stretched, developed, twisted, but with the help of others, my spirit eventually burst up from the roots. I was free. I acted, withered, went inside, prayed, acted again, understood anew, as one moment of perception struck. Up from my roots, spirit-arms lengthened into strong, green shoots: high-springing servants stepping skyward."
My 7th time in..
Instantly free..a miraculous experience, the bottom of bottoms, saved from suicide
in a hotel room..but "it doesn't happen overnight" is so true!
The real work had to start in AA..I knew I was free. No booze or drugs, no cravings.
To keep it, there was the hard work of recovery ahead..no resting on the laurels
of my spiritual experience. I had to go back to the rooms, where I was welcomed
with such warmth and love and start all over again. And start growing.
