OK, here goes with too little info......
A few years ago, I picked up a paperback and loved it, wanted to get more of this series......
I can't remember whether the author or main character was Amy? Anne? Started with an A I am pretty sure.
The scenario was:
the main character had inherited a brownstone from her aunt, a lesbian PI, the main character, a young woman, fell into a mystery and picked up her aunt's business. There was an older man who lived in the "basement" who had known her aunt and worked with her.
This series was set in the 1920's or 30's.
I know it is a shot in the dark, but it has niggled at me many times.
