I used to be a huge Cornwell fan The first books in the Scarpetta series are tremendously entertaining. However, I think that her writing has crashed recently. Her latest books are plagued with plot and character errors, ridiculously unbelievable situations and poor, rambling writing; for example, Marino suddenly turns out to be Caucasian :wtf2 . Even worse, all of the characters seem to have completely lost it, including Scarpetta. My aunt commented on a subplot of one of the latest books and I realized that I'd accidentally skipped 150 pages of that book without even noticing it O_o
