Re: Prozac?

Prozac is my best friend!!!

I mean it...will never stop taking it. When I first started taking it I would get really tired (which apparently is the opposite of most people) but after a few weeks that side effect went away. One time, I didn't get my script filled right away and went for a while without taking it. I could tell the difference. Could feel all the negativity coming back. Will never let that happen again!! As for the sexual side effects....I think they are pretty common. If I remember correctly, my doctor said that there is something you can take to counter-act it. You may want to ask about that because I can't really remember.

As for me, the only sexual side effect that I noticed is that "the urge" to have sex-if you know what I mean-is not as strong. So I don't initiate it as often as my fiance does. But once I get going everything is fine!! (just a slow starter) So I just have to try a little harder (no pun intended) to remember to initiate it. That may be a side effect some people would not want to live with-but the trade off for me is WELL worth it. I can actually function in the world now, (I can get out of bed and leave the house and everything!!) So if I have to "think" about sex more with my brain......because my body doesn't always remind me about it, that's ok with me.

And actually, now that I think about it, I NEVER wanted to have sex before prozac because I was too busy being depressed. So Prozac improved my sex life!!!

It will take a while for your body to adjust to the meds, and often the side effects will go away once your body gets used to them.(you need to be on them more than 1 week!!! It can take up to a few months!!) You'll just have to wait and see how you respond to it. Ask your doctor about any side effects that don't go away on their own, there is probably something they can do. Good luck to you!!!
