I think an important "first step" is to really dig out and weigh out all the pros and cons of smoking. Which way does the scale tip?

Why do you find smoking pleasurable and/or beneficial in your life? (jot down 12 reasons)

Why do you want to quit? (jot down 12 good reasons for quitting)

Then explore the various stop-smoking methods available, ways to prepare and handle withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and triggers, and eventually set a Quit Date, say goodbye, and let go.
