Welcome to SR Steve, AA alone worked for me just fine before I ever came to SR, but that is not to say that another program may not have worked for me. That being said I doubt very seriously I would have ever stayed sober coming just to SR, I am sure there are some that do though.

I have picked up some real good stuff here, both from AA folks and non-AA folks. The primary thing I have picked up from the non-AA folks is that I would have never stayed sober without AA and I can see that the people who have stayed sober without AA are practicing many parts of the AA program.

There are some great folks here at SR both in and out of AA.
