It might be helpful to ask the disability board what kind of work they have available, or any references they could provide. I think most government agencies want people to get off of social welfare programs as quickly as possible.
Things like web-design are pretty easy to learn, and legitimate (lots of free online resources) and you can get paid to work from home...(most web guys I know have a healthy fear of the 'office environment').
