DT's also know as Delirium Tremens seldom lasts more than a couple of days except in the case of the hardest 24x7 drinkers.
When I was in rehab they sent those who showed up inebriated to a withdrawl clinic.
Most of them were sent back in 2 or 3 days. The record was 5 days held by one drunk who was toe-tagged and sent to the morgue by mistake.
