Hi Lilly,
I had acute pancreatitis attacks repeatedly over the 8 years I drank...starting when I was not drinking all that much comparitively speaking.
Check with your doctor to be sure, but I was told I am not "chronic" that there is no scaring as of right now. I was told that repeated acute pancretits could lead to chronic.
It was when I got diagnosised with this that I really understood that alchoholism is not a moral issue but a physical disease....My dr. said it is no longer about what you do drunk or sober, but that your body simply can no longer process alchohol...not even a little bit! Of course I continued to drink and almost died after that diagnosis.
because i couldn't eat or hold down food when I had pancreatits all of my chem levels got outa wack. The one that was really bad was my potasium level which can kill you.
I have only had one episode since about 6 weeks into my sobriety.
I am just grateful there was no scaring and I have a chance to heal and stay healthy.
