I'm with nandm. When I had surgery many years ago, my doctor made my pump and later pills a regular med instead of a PRN. He was scared I would NOT use the medication. He told me there were many studies that show if you don't use pain medication properly it slows down your healing.

I have since found out that for me, this is true.
