I was laid off from my high wage job in May. I was glad because I looked at as an opportunity to downsize and simplify my life. More and more I am of the opinion that a spiritual life is a simple life.

I recently took a position that pays far less than what I made before, but I've found I don't need much-food, clothing and shelter are my needs and those needs are amply met. After all I have a new Employer who will never fire me and meets all my needs if I keep close to him and do his work. Money is just a tool that helps me do God's work.
