I think that this is part of the detox. Simple carbs (i.e. sugar) burn very quickly and don't quite make it to the brain in the form of converted glucose. Instead, they get stored in fatty tissue throughout our bodies. I often get "sticky hands" and a sweet taste in my mouth.
Water is the best remedy. I also enjoy saunas as they help leach toxins from the body. Just be sure to monitor hydration levels (before, during and after) and take them in moderation if you have issues with blood pressure, heart palpations, etc.
